Relationship Cross
Seven cards on the shape of the dynamic between you and someone else.
Reading the dynamic between two people · romantic, family, friendship, professional.
Most clients arrive with a relationship question. The Relationship Cross gives you a structured way to look at the dynamic without making the cards predict the other person's behaviour. It reads the dynamic, not the destiny.
A modern spread, codified by various readers in the late 20th century. Variations exist; this is the most common.
Frame the question as 'what's the dynamic between us right now?' rather than 'will they come back?'. Shuffle while holding both people in mind. Lay cards 1 and 2 side by side at the top (you and them), then 3 in the middle (the shared space), 4-5 below (what each brings), 6 in the centre below (what blocks), 7 at the bottom (what helps).
What each card means
- 1You
How you're showing up in the relationship right now.
- 2Them
How they're showing up. Read as a current, not a prediction.
- 3The dynamic
What lives between you. The actual texture of the connection.
- 4Your gift
What you bring that's working.
- 5Their gift
What they bring that's working.
- 6The block
What's getting in the way. Often a misalignment of expectations.
- 7The way through
The shift that would change the dynamic.
Couples mid-difficulty. Friendships through transitions. Family relationships where you need to see your part of the system. Pre-divorce sessions where the question is 'is there a way back'.
Reading a third party who isn't in the room and hasn't consented to being read. Predicting an ex's behaviour. Asking 'do they love me?' as the only question.
Some readers add an eighth card · 'the outcome' · but it can encourage a deterministic read that the spread is meant to avoid. The six-card variation drops cards 4-5 and reads dynamics only.
