Acceptable Use Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective 2026-05-26

Conduct standards for everyone on BookTarot. If you are in crisis right now, our country-by-country helpline list is at /legal/crisis-resources.

If you or someone you are with is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number and consult /legal/crisis-resources. Helplines are for support; emergency services are for danger.

This Acceptable Use Policy sets out the conduct standards every BookTarot User — Clients, Readers, and visitors — agrees to follow. It is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service at /legal/terms and into the Reader Agreement at /legal/reader-agreement, and any breach is a breach of those agreements.

Prohibited content

  • Sexual content involving minors in any form, including computer-generated or AI-generated imagery.
  • Non-consensual sexual content (NCII / "revenge porn") or content that promotes or depicts non-consensual conduct.
  • Content that depicts, promotes, or glorifies violence, self-harm, or suicide.
  • Hate speech, harassment, threats, or discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, age, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, or veteran status.
  • Misleading medical, legal, financial, or psychological claims, including pseudo-clinical diagnoses or specific predictions about regulated outcomes.
  • Material that infringes third-party intellectual-property or privacy rights.
  • Sanctions-list or terrorism-related content.
  • Sexual or sexually suggestive content of any kind (BookTarot is not a sex-work or adult-content platform).

Prohibited behavior

  • Impersonation of any natural or legal person, or misrepresentation of identity or affiliation.
  • Harassment, threats, or abuse of any User.
  • Off-platform circumvention attempts once a connection is established through BookTarot (see /legal/terms § 12.2).
  • Recording without the consent of every party through the Platform's in-Session recording feature (see /legal/terms § 10).
  • Use of automation to scrape data outside the published robots.txt and sitemaps, or in violation of any rate limit.
  • Attempts to interfere with Platform security, including credential stuffing, brute force, denial of service, or attempts to bypass authentication.
  • Use of any Content on the Platform to train, fine-tune, or evaluate an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model (see /legal/terms § 13).
  • Misuse of the reporting or dispute systems, including bad-faith reports or vexatious complaints.
  • Use of the Platform to launder money, evade sanctions, or facilitate any other financial crime.

Prohibited reading topics

Readers will not:

  • Make medical diagnoses, recommend treatment, or comment on prognosis of any medical condition.
  • Provide legal counsel, draft documents, or recommend a specific course of legal action.
  • Recommend specific securities, derivatives, real-estate transactions, or other regulated financial products, or make projections about specific market movements.
  • Predict third parties' death, terminal illness, pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
  • Advise in or around crisis topics in any manner that could discourage a person from seeking emergency assistance.
  • Conduct readings for minors (anyone under 18, or 21 in the Gulf states listed at /legal/terms § 3.1).
  • Conduct readings for any person who appears visibly impaired or intoxicated.
  • Offer or upsell curse-removal, hex-removal, energy-clearing, or ritual services.
  • Solicit tips, gifts, or further payments under emotional pressure.

What Readers will do if a Client signals crisis

If a Client expresses thoughts of suicide, self-harm, intent to harm others, ongoing abuse, sexual assault, child endangerment, intimate-partner violence, substance-use crisis, or human trafficking during a Session, the Reader is required to:

  1. Pause the reading.
  2. Listen without judgement.
  3. Share the regionally appropriate crisis resource from /legal/crisis-resources, based on the Client's country of residence as known to the Platform. The list covers suicide-prevention lines, mental-health crisis lines, domestic and sexual-violence helplines, child-protection helplines, LGBTQ+ crisis lines, substance-use lines, and human-trafficking hotlines across over sixty jurisdictions.
  4. Encourage the Client to contact the resource and, with permission, stay on the line while they do.
  5. End the Session if doing so is in the Client's interest.
  6. Notify Trust & Safety after the Session so that follow-up can be offered, within the limits of the Privacy Policy at /legal/privacy.

Material breach of this protocol is grounds for immediate removal from the Platform.

Reporting a violation

  • In-product report flows on every Reader profile, Booking, Session, review, and message thread.
  • By email to report@booktarot.com.
  • For child-endangerment or trafficking concerns, also notify the country-appropriate authority — see /legal/crisis-resources.

We acknowledge reports within twenty-four hours. We may take interim action (suspension, content removal) while a report is investigated.

Enforcement

We may, at our reasonable discretion and proportionate to the breach:

  • Hide or remove Content.
  • Issue a warning to the User.
  • Restrict features (for example, suspend the ability to message until a moderation review completes).
  • Suspend or terminate the Account.
  • Freeze pending payouts pending investigation.
  • Report the conduct to law enforcement or other competent authority where required by law or where a credible threat to life is present.

Repeat offenders are banned. Decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on a User (such as a permanent ban or payout freeze) are reviewed by a human before they take effect, and Users may appeal as described in /legal/trust-safety.
