A year-ahead reading lays twelve cards, one per month, with a thirteenth card sitting over the top for the year as a whole. It's a sketch of themes rather than a calendar of events. People take this kind of reading at the start of the year, around a birthday, or before a stretch they can already tell is going to be a lot. The map doesn't tell you the weather. It tells you what the terrain looks like.
