The two-line summary

BookTarot is a directory of identity-verified tarot readers offering online video sessions. It launched in 2019 and operates in 92 countries, in 38 languages, with a transparent 40 percent platform fee and a published ethics code.

The longer story

BookTarot was founded by a small team who thought the online tarot landscape was bad for clients and worse for readers. Most platforms before BookTarot used per-minute pricing models inherited from psychic-hotline culture, opaque reader vetting, and ethics statements that didn't have enforcement behind them.

The company set out to do the opposite. Flat pricing per session. Identity-verified readers held to a public ethics code. A 40 percent platform fee disclosed openly to both sides. No upsell add-ons. No fear-selling. No curse-removal services. The bet was that there were enough clients tired of the alternatives to support a platform that took the practice seriously.

By 2026, the platform hosts readers across six continents, working in 38 languages. The brief has stayed narrow: tarot reading, online, over secure video. No mediumship, no spell services, no add-ons. The team treats tarot as a serious reflective practice, and the platform as critical infrastructure for the readers who do it for a living.
